A big highlight of the iImmune program every year is our retreat in Waischenfeld at the end of the second semester! 🔬👥

This year, the students of the 6th cohort, many of the iImmune board professors, some alumni and the external scientific advisory board members met to discuss the students’ experiences during the first two semesters of the program. Questions were answered, suggestions from the advisory board were considered, and students had the opportunity to discuss future career options with experienced scientists from academia and industry. Some of the students from the last cohort presented short summaries of their stays abroad as part of the interesting series of presentations at the retreat.🎤📊

Further, our students had the opportunity to listen to research talks given by the external advisory board (Ulf Grawunder, Kathrin de la Rosa, Lill Martensson-Bopp, Simon Fillatreau) and some alumni from past cohorts. The audience got an impression of the wide range of possibilities after graduation and was introduced to impressive career paths. The two days were encouraging and allowed the students to think about future opportunities and what career options might suit them.

In addition to the intellectual input, all participants were able to enjoy many delicious meals and snacks at the Frauenhofer Research Campus in Waischenfeld, where all participants were welcome to stay for the two days. One of the highlights of the retreat was a refreshing hike to Rabenstein Castle. Also, there were many interesting conversations with our professors and members of the advisory board, as well as bonding activities such as social gatherings in the evening, where students and professors could sit together, eat, and get to know each other on a more personal level. This was also a nice way for the students to socialize before they all leave for their internships in different countries and discuss potential topics for their master theses with the professors.

All in all, it was a successful and enriching event for everyone involved!🎉
